Commonwealth Fusion Systems announced a landmark supply agreement with Fujikura Ltd. as it accelerates the commercial rollout of ARC fusion power plants. CFS agreed to purchase more than 10,000 km (3 GA-m) of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) tape from Fujikura that the company will use in the development of its ARC power plants, starting with the first grid-scale plant being developed at the Fall Line Fusion Power Station in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Fujikura is investing in the expansion of its manufacturing capacity to enable the delivery of the HTS tape at scale. The agreement is the largest of its kind for HTS tape. The supply agreement is a major milestone toward the construction of ARC power plants and will help to strengthen the industrial supply chain essential to bring commercial fusion power to market. It also marks an important step in U.S.-Japan collaboration and in building the industrial ecosystem needed to support commercial fusion energy.

Fujikura Ltd. resolved to adopt a policy to proceed with capital investment aimed at expanding production capacity for the optical fiber and optical fiber cable SWR®/WTC®. Fujikura has been positioned as a supplier of optical fiber cables for the enhancement of AI infrastructure in the U.S., in connection with the “Memorandum of Understanding with respect to Strategic Investments” between the Government of Japan and the Government of the United States of America and having signed a Framework Agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce on October 28, 2025. This investment is intended to further address the growing demand for optical fiber cables in AI data center market while also expanding production for contributing to the enhancement of AI infrastructure in the U.S. This investment aims to increase production capacity to up to approximately three times the current level at each of its manufacturing location, in Japan and the U.S., by sequentially investing a total of maximum JPY 300 billion while closely monitoring market trends. This will be achieved in conjunction with a new factory currently under construction at our Sakura plant in Chiba prefecture. There is no change to the consolidated earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2026 due to this matter.
